Weird...
I'm always astonished by the incredible misunderstanding about Tupac; How could it be that the entire - almost - world let this guy through? For, Tupac obviously could be compared with people like Malcolm X, Ché Guevara, Gandhi,... Nevertheless, and I want it to be clear, I don't intend to say he was perfect. But What i really wanted to stress is that the understanding - in my opinion - of this phenomenon - the fact that although he was a genuine genius, Tupac never got the recognition he deserves - will give some us interesting keys to decipher the way we think. When you recount his brief, skilful, prodigious career, Tupac essentially has been discredited by:
- his colour, his being a rapper - although he also was both a poet and a writer - , and his high consciousness. It's already uneasy to be black - and poor -; to boot, rappers cart a foul image, with their "bling-bling", all these naked girls in their clips - suspected of machism - their muscles...; at last, to make it more difficult, - I mean incomprehensible for the middle-class - Tupac was a highbrow - he wrote very deep poetries, was "workholic", read books in abundance, had a true message, a program for his people, a vision that he harshly defended; his entourage: mother, stepfather, mother's friends... was largely composed of Black Panthers's militants...- This is what the misunderstanding is all about - which is frustating, deplorable - : ordinary mortals are unable to figure out a man: black, rapper, clever, brilliant...
